Can't see it happening in the near future. People have been asking for it for the past 18 months since Google Calendar came out, however there has been no word from Google on the issue. Either they are working on it but are keeping it quiet so as not to build false expectations as it is so far from release or they have no intention of developing a to-do list for the current Google Calendar as they are working on something else or looking to buy an existing product and stick their name on it. I thought they would have gone for Scrybe but that was snapped up by Adobe. You never know they might surprise us and spring a task list on us but I doubt it!
Add me to list of people who want a to-do list, amoung other items that have been requested. I'll join your team to help you get it done. Someone needs to lead the team to accomplish something quicker then they are right now.
+1 - I've been trying "RememberTheMilk" and "Todoist" and it is nice and can organize your live, but the only one problem is that they don't allow you to see how busy you are in your GCalendar. I thing that it is the most essential thing which is missing in GMail. I would do combination of those above with Calendar...
And this is my another notes to Google Calendar team: - to put into an new event some of mine documents witch I have got in GoogleDoc&Spread or note from Google Notepad or from GoogleBookmark {"add a document" section like "add guest"} - If I've got an event and I would like to copy that into another day I can do it only in the way I will make another event with the same name. Maybe could be more useful to have a contextual menu [after RightMouseButton click] with option "copy event" and then make selection in another day and RMB and paste event. - anyway the contextual menu in calendar would be useful enough. Just for example would be there options like - copy/paste/delete/make event, rotation [and another branch: yearly, daily, atc.], Add guests [will open pop up menu with the only contacts page], reminder, Privaci and calendar switcher....
This is a must! It's not fun adding to-do items as full day events. Would be better if it was in the sidebar on the left or could be made separate into a sidebar on the right.

I too would love to have a to do list. I use a combination of Remember The Milk and starred Gmail, but I would really love to have tasks integrated into the Calendar.
This is the very basis of online collaboration, and while the 2 things may seem separate they are closely related There are lots of people out there offering very, very simple todo lists - and often these are the most powerful
But there's a real opportunity here to leapfrog all that with a POWERFUL, integrated approach that incorporates - task hierarchy - people & permissions - dates & availability - attached documents, templates, etc - basic task dependencies and scheduling - task prioritisation, status, escalation, etc
Sounds complex, but actually remarkably simple
So +1 on the basic requirement and "Raise 1" on the request!
(Oh yes, and some more feedback would be nice! Or perhaps you would prefer us to start a new Group to design the requirements and maybe even develop this thing for Google????)

Very well put. I think this is a tremendous opportunity for Google. I hope they respond.
I am just going to keep agreeing and bumping up these to-do list threads until Google does something about it.
I suggest everyone else does the same. Keep replying to every to-do list thread and/or start your own. Lets flood the Group with to-do list requests until they understand how much we really want this feature!
Hey everyone - thanks for the loud and very clear feedback on your desire for a to-do/task list feature. We're pretty passionate about to- do lists here as well, and we've got something in the works. Of course, we're working to add our special Google secret sauce to the to- do lists space (which can take some time to get right,) so we don't have something to announce just yet, but the entire team is listening to these threads closely.
Please be patient - we'll have more to talk about soon.

I am glad to hear you are doing something about it. I truly hope you "get it right" as you put it. Here are suggested features to make it worthwhile in my mind-
Need to be able to + associate it with a day - i.e. need to be date-specific, and forwardable, etc (so if you don't get to it one day, you can get to it another) + prioritized - e.g. A1 vs D3 (you should be able to go through Z if you like and double digit numbers) + categorize - i.e. Family or business or xyz projec + sync to a PDA and preferably desktop application

Don't make the fatal mistake of not providing a simple but robust way to *repeat* tasks -- once a day, once a week, 15th of each month, etc. It would be a deal breaker for me.

Thank you. Just informing us makes a huge difference!
It's great to hear this news. As a developer, I know this is not an easy task but now that we have been told about your intentions regarding a ToDo list, I for one do not mind waiting while you iron out the bugs. I have confidence that you'll do a good job.

We are reviewing Google Apps for our college. Google seems to be the killer personal email/app system that is inching towards being enterprise/business ready. This is one big barrier to adoption in our relm.
This would be a fantastic addition to the Google apps. + infinity for me.
If it will have the abiliity to do GTD type functionality (Projects + customizable contexts, with the ability to view by either), I will be thrilled!
Any of the following would make the special sauce that much tastier:
Hierarchical/sub-tasks Priorities (or at least a "starred" toggle) Notifications (RSS, SMS, etc.) Searching Recurring tasks Task templates Create tasks from an e-mail in gmail Group sharing and management (so I could assign a task to a friend and track their progress) File attachments Due dates Calendar integration Mobile phone interface Notes
