Subject: Calendar Unavailable - GAFYD - all users affected
This morning all of my users have not been able to get into their
calendars for our hosted domain.  Everyone gets the "Oops, we're
sorry, Google Calendar is temporarily unavailable. You can cross your
fingers and try again in a few minutes, or take a look at our help
center for more information."  This affects multiple accounts on
different computers and at different sites.  What can we do about it?
It has been down for over an hour so far.  Several users are frantic
as they use their calendars exclusively online.  The Calendar links
are there, but take forever and then time out with the message.  Any
suggestions?  Can I call someone or submit a trouble ticket?

Wow!

This experience today of Google Calendars being "Unavailale" has
demonstrated that Google Calendar is unusable as your primary
calendar.

We've decided to go bsck to using paper calendars again...  Then,
occasionally copying all new or changed appointments up into Google
Calendar - strictly for the colanorating features.

In fact, I think we will start by PRINTING the day views, week views,
and month views directly FROM google calendar.... printing on 3-hole
punched paper...  put it into a slim binder.... And use that.

Then, make changes in handwriting on those pages.  And later,
ocassionally, update the online google calendar and print the effected
day(a) again.

Now, if only we could do the same with our Addressbook (Gmail
Contacts)....  Gmail Contacts prints out in a terrible unformatted
ugly primative list, with only 3 fields, and only one phone number etc
per Contact.

If you think of a better solution, please email me, at:   punlman AT
gmail dot com.
