I have google calendar as my personal calendar and outlook (via
exchange server) as my work calendar. I have my work calendar sending
only work events to my google calendar but not receiving my personal
events back. So basically I've enabled one-way sync from outlook to
google calendar.
Everything worked fine until there was an update for calendar sync.
After the update I didn't check the settings, but they reverted back
to the old 2 way sync. My outlook calendar became flooded with all my
personal events. I didn't want this so I changed the option in
calendar sync back to the correct setting I had before. I went through
and deleted all the events on my outlook calendar that were of a
personal nature. Now when I attempt to sync, I get a message that sync wants to delete 246 events would you like to proceed? I obviously
click no!
Looking for a possible solution to my dilema and hoping that this
hasn't happened to other people after they've upgraded.
I'm having EXACTLY the same issues except it wants to delete 5246
events. I turned off 2 way sync because it wouldn't sync all my
events from outlook to google cal - too many events is apparently the
problem so I can only use it one way.

Actually I see a Google employee named Russell has now (in the updates
thread) apologized for this bug. Unfortunately, his solution to
manually correct the sync direction is like closing the barn door
after the cows have escaped. Once the first 2-way sync has occurred,
there appears to be no way to delete the unwanted events from one
calendar without having sync delete them from the other calendar (short of never again syncing). Google should offer an option to (on a
one-time basis) clear the list of events to be deleted, so that after
you manually clear the incorrectly synced events from one calendar,
they won't be deleted from the other. That would be a better response
than "Sorry" after screwing up so many users' Google *and* Outlook
calendars.
has anyone tried to export their google calendar (as a backup)... let
outlook sync and delete all the events. and then reimport their
calendar?
i say this because i have thunderbird with the lightning and provider
plugins and have a local copy of my google calendar on it. i'm
reluctant to try it without knowing if it will work.

I have exactly the same problem and, of course, also click no b/c I
don't want all my events deleted. I tried deleting and then
reinstalling Sync, but that didn't solve it.
I was excited when Sync first came out, but it is now completely
useless to me.

Please spread the word.... i figured out how to fix it!!
1. Close Outlook.
2. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
3. Uninstall Google Calendar Sync 4. Delete the following directory C:\Documents and Settings\<username>
\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Calendar Sync 5. Download and reinstall Google Calendar Sync.
Everything should sync fine at that point. Not sure why Google hasn't
figured this out and posted it. Pretty simple.
