Hello Balaji,
The Google+ promotion page is NOT compulsory.
It is for those who wish to promote their apps and it is not tied in anyway to the competition.
It could also be a good way for you to get feedback from the public on your idea and its implementation.
There could be a number of other benefits that would apply to those who are interested in continuing the development of their apps beyond the competition.
Once again note that it is not compulsory and will have no effect on the judging.
regards

I am definitely interested in development beyond the competition. In
fact, a new and much improved version of my app already exists.
However, the time window for submission of the Google+ page was
extremely short, and so I missed it. Is there another way to get those
benefits that you mentioned?

Hello Felix,
Sure.
You can create and share your page with the hashtag and email the link to this address.

Great! What do you mean by "this address"?

By the way, will the apps that didn't make it into the finals also be
listed somewhere? That would be a nice gesture.

Hello Felix,
this address = "gappsdev...@gmail.com"
The apps that did not make the semi finals have  been contacted by email.
Any app that did not make but wishes to be publicized can do so by creating and sending the link to their Google+ page and App ID for their app to the email address above.
Regards

Great! I plan to take care of creating a Google+ page in the upcoming
days. It all depends a little bit on a client who is interested in
financing the app, and when I can release it as Open Source (Apache
License 2.0).

Just got that email. I have the impression, though, that the judge who
reviewed the app doesn't know about the limitations of Apps Script:

"I failed to find the menu for creating new events etc."

The menu is there. However, it takes a couple of seconds to appear in
the spreadsheet's menu bar. Another comment by the judge:

"Nice simple interface, but the app felt very sluggish."

Slugish Apps Script execution is a common complaint. Hopefully, Google
does something about it. I believe that I already pulled all the tricks.

I had the same impression as Felix.
There's some suggestions by the judges that are just impossible to implement on Apps Script.
Some judges even suggested that should quit using Apps Script entirely and go with other technologies. I should probably do that indeed, but I won't. My app development is already advanced and I also have a secondary goal that is to push Apps Script development and make it a better tool.

I fell that the judges only have knowledge on Google Apps and Drive, and never even heard of Apps Script. And since Google Apps Script is also a goal of this challenge (well, at least it's one of the requirements), maybe the judges should have some background on it.

Henrique G. Abreu

Hello Balaji,
Emails were sent out to all who submitted with details of their app and their assigned App IDs.
