Hi All,

I am pleased to announce the release of ScURLr(http://
www.ScURLr.com), yet another GAE powered web application. Essentially,
it's a screenshot generator/visualization tool for websites. It can
generate screenshots of anything and everything as long as it is
universally accessible through standard compliant web browsers.

One of the interesting thing about this application is it's use of
varieties of technologies and APIs. I can summarize the equation as
follows

ScURLr = GAE + GWT + Gadgets + etc.

Please give it a test drive and let me know if you have any comments,
thoughts, suggestions or critiques.

Thanks,

Siddique

How the screenshot is generated, and in what GAE helped?

Since, there are some restrictions in GAE environment, I couldn't run
the screenshot generation process within the GAE app. All the
screenshot generation request is queued to an intermediary server,
which is running on some Java & Python code to generate the
screenshots. Except the screenshot generation part, everything else is
running on GAE app like image store, image manipulation (cropping,
resizing etc.), caching, url validation etc.

Beautifully made. Simple design. Love it.

Perhaps a way to request a refresh (replace old shot)?

Thanks Jonathan for your feedback.

Yes, the request for refresh & replacing old shots would all be coming
along the way :)
