Hello Google folks.
Most Google AppEngine (3rd party) developers probably live within 50
mile radius (for now)... wouldn't it be helpful to have hands on
coding sessions @ Googleplex once in a while to really help us get
going?

Why would you think they're mostly local? I'm on the east coast.

Actually, I'd wager that a great deal of the developers currently
using GAE live in countries besides the U.S. I myself am from Sweden,
and I've seen plenty of people from other countries in this discussion
group, including other people from Sweden.

A huge live chat session might not be a bad idea, kind of like a video
tutorial on steroids...
In fact, just more video tutorials would help greatly - check out the
nice railscasts or peepcode videos for Rails - one each week on how to
solve a simple problem, best practices, etc, about 10 minutes long. I
watch them all the time during lunch!
I've been trying to get some of the Rails guys to do this, but no luck
yet.

Thanks for the great suggestions. We are definitely working on improving the content for developers. So, if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see, please continue to respond to this thread, and we'll see what we can do.
Concerning videos, Google App Engine Engineers gave some great talks at Google I/O and they should be online shortly (though I don't have the exact timeline). These cover some best practices with App Engine, as well as some great information on the datastore and object modeling. We'll let everyone know when they are posted.

hey, a lot of are not in US. How about setup group chatroom in campfire or a live channel in irc.
