We are currently tracking an ongoing issue with Google infrastructure
that is resulting in increased latency (specifically, latency spikes)
in the App Engine datastore. This issue first appeared after last
week's scheduled maintenance and has steadily gotten worse to the
point where it is now affecting a significant number of
applications.

As of 6:30pm PST today, we have made a number of configuration changes
to address the increased latency. We are monitoring the performance
of the datastore closely and will update this thread with more
information and an all clear when we are satisfied the latency has
returned to expected values.

Note: The latency issues have also affected some Admin Console
functionality including new application deployments during this
period.

The configuration changes made yesterday evening have caused a
significant reduction in latency and prevented further latency
spikes. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, but we now
consider the issue resolved.
