I sent in this bug report regarding adCost in the API.
http://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues/issues/detail?id=1852

Dimension: ga:month
Metric: ga:adCost and ga:itemQuantity
Segment: dynamic::ga:medium=~cpc

Output is fine for quantity, but adcost only shows 0. If this is an
invalid combination (although I do not know why it would be), it is
not indicated in the chart in the api docs nor does it through an
exception.

Please advise.

We want to calculate CPL and without these 2 together it is no good.

Hi,

This issue is with querying AdWords related data from advanced
segments. Currently all AdWords related metrics in queries that also
define an advanced segment will return 0's.

This problem is not only with Advanced Segments. If I include Medium
as a normal dimension and not a segment, I still get the same problem
so long as I also include itemQuantity as a metric as well.

Here is the query
https://www.google.com/analytics/feeds/data?ids=FOOBAR&dimensions=ga%3Amonth%2Cga%3Amedium&metrics=ga%3AadCost%2Cga%3AitemQuantity&start-date=2009-10-01&end-date=2009-10-31&max-results=50

PS: Thanks for the answer on GA TV to my question. Any ETA on unique
visitors getting rolled out to the API?

Hey Michael,

No Problem. Getting unique visitors rolled out is something we're
looking at closely.

Regarding the combination, at this point the API is following the same
logic as the custom reporting in the web interface. Currently that
combination is allowed, but also only returns 0's for ad cost when
queried with medium. So this combination isn't supported in GA.
