unique visitors with google api

how can i get the apsolute unique visitors with the google analytics
api? i have tryed ga:visitors, ga:newvisits and ga:visitortype but all
of those are not the same as on google analytics. my avrg. data is
much lower as on google. i hope some one can help me

Hi,

Unique Visitors through the UI maps to ga:visitors in the API.

Though you need to be careful as combining ga:visitors with other
dimensions can lead to sampling. I would ensure the confidence
Intervals between the UI and API are the same.

Simple things can affect stats from the API. Using a filter of " "
will give different numbers than a filter of ""

On this topic -- why am I able to generate a Custom Report with a
dimension of Source and Metric of Unique Visitors, but I can't set
dimension = ga:source, metric = ga:visitors in the Data Feed API?

I thought there was supposed to be parity between the two. Am I doing
something wrong?

Hi,

We just added Unique Visitors to the custom reporting UI in our GAv4
release (2 weeks ago). This hasn't been made available through the API
yet.

Also, ga:visitor is currently duplicative...is 1 visitor who visits a
website 1 time across 5 days, will show up as 5 for a date rage that
spans all 5 days. The new Unique Visitor metric recently released de-
dups these visitors.

Yep, that's what I figured -- am eager to be able to access that via
the API. Any ideas when that will be launched (ballpark -- a day, a
week, a month, a half, ...)? If it's going to be a while, I'll setup a
custom report and write code to ingest that.

Any chance there have been updated on this? If it's unlikely that
unique visitors will make it to the API by the end of year, I'm going
to have to scrape the reports or exports.

It's hard to say.

I would recommend not waiting on us to build your reports. One
solution I heard that works well is to schedule an email with the data
you need, then parse the attachment from your inbox.
