Developers,

All new Android, iPad, iPhone, and Windows Phone 7 apps will require an AdMob SDK that was released on or after March 15, 2011. This covers 4.0.2+ for Android and iOS, and 4.0.1+ for WP7. If you downloaded the library from code.google.com/mobile/ads, then you're already set. If you are using a version of the AdMob SDK that was released before March 15, 2011, your new app will not receive any ad impressions until you update your SDK.

As always, you can find the latest releases on our download page.

Cheers,
AdMob SDK Team

Hello,

when do you think will you publish the new version of the SDK which fix the NPE problem? It is such a an old and a big problem which annoys the users and of course the developers as well.

Hi, If the old app does not update, can it get the ad always?

Existing sites and apps will still work.

That's not exactly true in my experience. I was using a really old SDK in my Android app (the app itself was last updated in 2011, so it was certainly "existing"), and my fill rate plummeted all the way down to <2% in October. As soon as I noticed (after about a month), I updated to the newest SDK, and filll rate started recovering. Now if only my users would be quicker about updating the app...

Dear Droid,

may I ask the fill rate after you updated to the newest SDK?
and could you tell me the version number of your old SDK? thanks.

I think that's just a generic message that goes out to all users regardless.

On Thursday, February 7, 2013 10:30:04 AM UTC+10, Thye Chean Lim wrote:
I just saw the message in my apps in the AdsMob report: Starting March 18, 2013, we will no longer support ad requests made through AdMob SDKs released before 2011. Please upgrade to the latest version of the AdMob SDK".

The problem is: I have already upgraded to 6.2.1 Android SDK for quite a few months. And the apps have been updated even up to this month - all using 6.2.1. Why am I still receiving this warning? How do I checked the version detected by AdMob (assuming something is wrong with my setup)?

Thanks!

Hey Thye,

I think that notification overreached the set of publishers that it should have been sent to (but it's better to be safe than sorry). That's great that you're already on 6.2.1. As long as you're on 4.0.2 or higher (and so are all your users), you won't be affected.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Are we able to know whether majority of our users are in new API or in pre-4.0.2 API?

My apps are Simple Paint Free and Kids Paint Free.

I don't know exactly what your numbers are. But 4.0.2 will have been out for 2 years by the time March 18th rolls around. Unless you just upgraded recently, I would suspect that a large majority of your ad requests are coming from users that are running 4.0.2 and above.

Thanks,
Eric

I upgraded a few months ago. Not sure how many apps have been updated by the users.

I am pretty worried right now.

Hey, I can't get a reply on this forum. I have funds on hold, because it say we need to update information for billing, it has been weeks. "The content you requested cannot be loaded at this time."

We need to get our funds out.
