New Golf Pad Beta version released today!

Hello team,

It's been a while, so we are really excited to announce the newest Beta release! Golf Pad version 20.0 is released today and should be available from Google Play Store within the next few hours. More information about our Beta program is available here.

This version includes several visible changes, like streamlined measurement of distances on map and improved readability. The big chunk of new updates are under the hood though. They improve app performance and reliability, and will help us accelerate new features development from here on. 

If you notice any issues at all, please reply here, send problem report from Golf Pad menu, or email sup...@golfpadgps.com. 

Note, the in-app course editing is temporarily unavailable. If you notice something is off about your course, please drop a note to sup...@golfpadgps.com and we'll get it fixed ASAP.

Updated the app this morning while in my office. First thing i noticed was my bag (except for 5I) was cleared and all my club stats were zeroed. Starting from scratch. I checked the website and the results were the same.

Not sure how many out there shuffle between operating systems, but I notice some differences in the statistics too. Looking forward to those updates

1. I normally use my iPhone for tracking the shots, but when I log into my android I am missing some clubs like the Driver.

2. If i have removed some shots from the statistics while on my iOS, this is not reflected on the android device - so my stats are off. 

3. The biggest one for me is that I don't get the Golf Pad Events option on Android...this is available on iOS and it is fantastic.

Have done the reinstall as mentioned above after clubs were missing but I'm still missing a number of my clubs from my bag. I don't even have the list of retired clubs.

Also my tags on the clubs I do have appear to be unassigned.

I Installed the beta version 20.0.8 this morning. Using on a Samsung Z Flip 6, and a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. 

I can see all my club data, so it appears that functionality has been restored. One problem is the shot selection on my watch only gives me about 3 seconds to override the app selection. That's way too fast for me to override it and choose a different club. Can you slow that timer down?

I like the new watch interface where it's in distinct pages rather than continuous scroll.

I uninstalled the beta version because I want to play and need my clubs stats and history. I installed the normal version and I still don't have my clubs. By selecting all time in the settings to be able to view all my clubs stats, it shows only the shots from may 2020 and before. So I am sure everything is still there, but there is a glitch about the dates of something like that. Would be nice to have a quick update.

I used the beta version last night, and found that after entering a score, the app did not auto-advance to the next hole, even though the setting to do that was correct.

In version 20.0.8 under clubs-last 50 rounds,  if I manually edit a missed shot so it's excluded from distance statistics it doesn't save the adjustment and will show as included upon reopening.

Been out playing today & I have to say there are so many bugs this feels like an alpha release rather than a beta!

1) I have not installed the beta version but I found that it has installed  on my phone without my permission 😢

2) in the app, I only have the following clubs available : Dr, 2hybrid, 5i, GW, SW, LW, Putter - see screenshot

3) On my Galaxy watch 6 it shows Dr, 2h 5i GW, SW - no LW or putter but shows putter from fringe - see screenshot

4) Playing Stapleford - the total Stapleford points updates before the hole is finished - see screenshot 

5) There is an issue with the calculation of the playing handicap. Last week with EPA of 15.7 I had playing handicap 12

I played quite well & my EPA came down to 15.1 but today my playing handicap is shown as 16???

6) when I looked to see how today's round had affected my EPA the rounds are showing as "invalid tees" what's that about? 

Also I can no longer include or exclude past rounds from My EPA!!

7) After 9 holes I wondered if my phone hadn't updated to the latest 20.0.8 & sure enough there was an update available. I downloaded, installed, cleared my cache but ALL the above issues still exist.

At the moment I find the app unusuable

Yeah, it's not great. 

Clive - on point five, it has defaulted back to WHS (UK). If you change this to WHS, it should calculate correctly, i.e. taking Par-course rating into account. 

@Golf Pad team - WHS (UK) isn't a thing anymore. We fell into line with the rest of the world on April 1st, so this can be removed.

Played this morning and it seems that the auto notifications to players when you finish the round is not working, both to myself and others that i wanted to be notified about the round did not get it - look into this please? 

And thank you - Amazing news, can’t wait to see it. 

Lots if issues reported but its fantastic to see that changes are being made. From the snapshots shared here i love the look.

Seems that the app did not pick up my game as an activity as it usually does. 

I use iPhone and iWatch Ultra 2. Normally it will show up in my fitness, i can access it from there. Not sure if it is related to the updates, but just be mindful of this too, its a great feature - i personally like it to stay.

The root cause has been fixed for a couple of versions now. Hello. 

I have the new beta version installed and I'm going out later today to play around with it. 

In the meantime, I was just looking around at the new layout and I may have found two small issues. 

First, look at the first two screenshots that I attached. I played a round back on June 10th, and the first screenshot is of the confirmation email I received from you that day correctly showing the course and my (horrible) 18 hole score. The second screenshot shows how that round now appears in my history. If I drill down, there's only a nine hole scorecard. 

I don't know if it is relevant, but that particular course has 27 holes in total and I played 18 on two of the three nines. 

Second, if I open any round in my history and then open 'view scores', you get a screen like the third screenshot. If I click on the little blue symbol like the one I drew the circle around, the app crashes completely. I don't know what that blue gizmo is supposed to do, if anything at all, but I'm going to guess it's not crash the app. 

Finally, and this is a question and not a bug report, would you remind me how I can go to a single shot and remove it from my distance statistics? I found that crashing thing I just mentioned while trying to pull a 300 yard drive out of the calculations. It's more likely that I skipped tracking a shot on that hole, and I don't deserve that 300 value. Unfortunately.

After the update, my Samsung watch Gear S3 has stopped working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on both the phone and watch but no luck. Hi there! Some inputs from me.

1. When finishing a round the discard and save buttons are really close to each other. If we hit discard by mistake, there is no more confirmation like there used to before and we lose the round completely. We don't want that!!

2. When pinning the app for using tags, there seems to be one or two unnecessary step to pin it. When we hit the tag icon on top, there should just be a prompt to confirm... Not the next page (click on update) and... an additional page that opens to eventually pin the app. Too many steps for one simple action. 

3. When the app is pinned, the statistic are not available. It requires the app to be unpinned. 

4. While you are making this amazing app more amazing, why not add a simple feature for the watch? It would be excellent to have a way to select the lie where we hit our shot directly on the watch. Often it will choose the fairway or rough, but in reality it should be a recovery or sand shot. Let's say we chose a club, the next prompt could be the lie. Same way as the club... Auto select the most obvious with some time to change to what we want.

I do have all of my clubs, check. 

I have partial scores for historical rounds on courses with more than two nines, fail. 

I am not receiving email notifications after completing rounds (both nines and full 18), fail. 

All of those have been discussed previously, I'm just chiming in on those. 

I have the android version plus I have a Samsung Watch 5. I have shot tracking enabled and I have putt tracking set to first putt only.

If I'm on the green, anywhere on any green and I click "track" to track a putt, the default club selection is always for my last wedge. Never for the putter, not once.

Version 20.0.0.9 was just submitted to review and should be available within a day or two! It includes the following fixes:

• Increased auto-select club timeout to 5 seconds on wear
• Fixed issue where total score counted unfinished holes
• Fixed playing handicap calculation for WHS UK
• Fixed crash on reading playing history when there are rounds in team mode with single team
• Fixed issue where past rounds on 27-hole courses were incorrectly processed as 9-hole only.
• Added discard round confirmation dialog if there is score
• Fixed issue “invalid tee” in Golf Pad Ability Estimate (GAE) calculation
• Implemented include / exclude round from GAE calculation option
• Implemented option to edit round directly from GAE details screen
• Club distance slider step set to 1 yd / meter

Our team is working the latest round of issues reported here, another update will follow early next week! 

An important note about Golf Pad Beta. The following features are not available starting with version 20.0:

- Support for Tizen watches (Galaxy Watch 3 and earlier)

- Support for Pebble and Magellan watches (deprecated long time ago)

- Support for Golf Pad LINK

For customers who use one of these devices, we will provide a separate 'Golf Pad Classic' app before the current Beta graduates to full production rollout. All settings, playing history and statistics will migrate to the 'Classic' app automatically. We'll provide detailed instructions once we get closer to the transition time. We know this is a major inconvenience and we weighted all options carefully. Dropping support for these older devices enables us to introduce cool new features a lot quicker. Considering they all are out for production for 4+ years and their support is discontinued by manufacturers, we felt this is the direction we had to take. Thank you all for understanding!

I am similarly missing the majority of my clubs and the stats associated with them.

Also I noticed that the 'distance walked' on all of my rounds has gone and is now zero.

Plus the data on the dashboard on the browser is now missing club data in the stats section. Showing only 6 clubs

Hi Golfpad team. 

I've been using your app for 5 years and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. However your latest beta isn't great...

For example, all the shots that used to be excluded from stats are now included by default in the beta version.

That means all the yardages of my clubs have changed because all those mishits are included in the average distances. 

Any plans to fix it and reinstate our carefully curated distances?

I have the same issue as Graham regarding manually unchecking errant shots to provide more accurate average club distance calculations not sticking after I uncheck them. 

Also automatic club selection times out way too fast to make a change. For example at 20 yarout I often do a bump and run with a 7 iron rather than use a wedge. It selects the wedge before I can override the suggestion.

The newest version 20.0.11 was just released moments ago! This version includes the following changes:

• More fixes for clubs bag settings and club statistics.
• Restored the ability to edit incorrect course data (layout, scorecard, order of holes, course name, ...) right within the app.
• Fixed handling of shots excluded from statistics and club recommendations. At this time you cannot exclude shots from shot list (when reviewing/editing during the round), but you can review and edit excluded shots in statistics.

Graham, please let us know if club recommendations are back to normal in this version.

Everyone, if you still have any clubs or statistics missing, please send the support id from the app to sup...@golfpadgps.com and we'll get them restored asap! 

For anyone who decides to leave the Beta program and switch to production version, here's the instructions: https://support.golfpadgps.com/support/solutions/articles/6000046167-how-do-i-leave-the-beta-program-. Rounds played on Beta build will transfer to production, just be sure you are using the same Golf Pad account.

Sorry one other thing I noticed today, might be nothing, but found it a bit slow to load up the map of the course. On the 1st hole.

For my very basic usage, I'd like to report no major issues or concerns. I don't track clubs and such (maybe I should, to improve my game?!) but normal functionality was as expected. The only thing I noticed was that when tracking shots and putts, it sometimes took several "presses" on the plus mark to take. In one case, I was at the next hole before it registered.  

Other than that, the app performed as expected.  GoldPad remains my favorite golf tracking app. Thank you for welcoming our feedback and making changes to help everyone!!

Hi! I still don't see my shots history. My retired clubs are missing. I only have 12 shots with my driver registered, but can't see any of them individually. I have over 640 games on golf pad, I'm sure all the data are still there but we need to see them again. 🙂

Played my first round with the new app yesterday and all went fine. Clubs and full stats have now re-appeared.

Just want to say thank you to the team for your rapid comms on here with all the issues. I work in development so know that bugs/issues can slip through but the quick, personal communications from the Golf Pad team has been much appreciated and makes me want to continue being a customer
