Its *not* a wrapper around a C-Library, if this is what you meant. MyMySQL
was written before the database/sql interface (resp. exp/sql) was out.
Later an Adapter <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adapter_pattern> (maybe that
term suits better) was added, the godrv sub-package.
