Subject: Brief Update

It has been awhile since we have been able to get an update out.  Life is
anything but dull here in the Dominican Republic.

Right now our biggest prayer request is Michael's guardianship status.  We
were thrilled a few weeks ago to finish the guardianship process with the
Child Welfare Court in Puerto Plata, and we were granted guardianship of
Michael.  However, for some reason the judge decide to deny us the ability
to have him travel with us.  So, we are in the process of appealing this
decision.

Of course, that will be the first hurdle to get over for him to go on
furlough with us.  We will then need to apply for his travel visa with the
US Consulate office in Santo Domingo.  The guardianship papers will give us
the right to apply for his travel visa, but will not guarantee that we will
receive a visa for him to travel.  Then, once we get his visa, we have to
pray that the customs officer that checks our paperwork as we leave the
country understands all the paperwork that we will have that gives us
permission to travel with him.  It's all prety crazy.  Until then we have
decided to postpone travel plans.  Right now it just doesn't seem right or
make sense to go without him.  So, please continue to keep us in your
prayers.

We will be working with two short-term teams in November.  One of these will
be David Dean <http://www.davidpdean.com/> and his Mission Possible's third
trip this year.  David Dean is just one of the great comedians that provides
a great night of entertainment and New Missions' Laugh All
Night<http://laughallnight.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx>.
Melissa and I were able to attend a couple of these events when we have been
in the States on furlough.  Mike Williams and Cleto Rodriguez have a few
coming up in Florida, Alabamba, and Tennesse.  If you have a chance you
should check them out.  November's second group will include people doing
eye-exams and providing eye glasses to people at the Health Center.

Also, I finally put some more of my rambling thoughts down on our blog
<http://www.godleadsus.blogspot.com>(it's been a while)

We'd love to hear from you, and what is going on in your lives.
