I have seen that with the new compilers (last tried with g++ 4.4.5) nested
struct templates are accessible from outside even when declared in the "private"
section of a class but with older ones (like g++ 3.xx) they were not. I suspect

When trying to compile our codebase with gcc 4.4.x (from Ubuntu Lucid), the
__func__ symbol suddenly causes problems. Up to now we used gcc 4.3.x from Debian.
I am aware that __func__ is C99 only, thus actually it isn't supposed to work!

compiles my code successfully, but gcc 3.4 and 4.1 fail with:

You need to prefix your 'vector<T>::iterator it' declaration with
'typename ' to inform gcc that this is your intention:
typename vector<T>::iterator it;
That should solve your problem.
