hi all,

trying to customize the above variable in gnu emacs (22.3 and also
23.0.93), I see the problem shown below in the customization buffer.
I don't think the mismatch is due to my customization, as I didn't
change this variable.

Robert seem very busy, and I wonder if there is hope that vm will be
again actively maintained? I seem to be running into an increasing
number of issues and I don't know that reporting them makes a
difference. There are also some additional development threads that
could be merged into the main one and address some of these issues?

This group is flooded with spam, is there a way of getting read of
this in google groups?

cheers...

That's true. For more than a year, Robert Widhopf-Fenk has been
silent. Does anyone know whether he is still around maintaining VM? I
begin to doubt one should still expect VM-8.1 to see the light.

As less and less people are using VM, I wonder whether it's time to
consider switching to another Emacs mail reader. This poses at least
two questions:

- Which one did should one choose: Wanderlust, Mew, Gnus, MH-E, etc.?
- Is there some kind of an automatic procedure to move our mailbox from
VM to this other mail reader?

How do these alternative programs stack up against vm?
- Where are they better or more featured?
- Where are they worse or more limited?
- Do any of these do a better job with rich text, html, and
attachments?

If I ever do have to switch, I would want to make sure that I switch
to a program that is at least as good and with a strong commitment to
being updated and maintained.
