auto-complete mode with terminus font

Hi,
I'm trying to use auto-complete mode, but it seems not to like my default fo, Terminus. Better than long speeches, I took two screenshots : one with the monospace font, and the other with the terminus font. As you can see, it is very ugly with the terminus one...

how can I fix it ?
I'm using emacs 23.4.1 under Archlinux.
To configure faces, I use customize, which write in a file .emacs-customize.el loaded by my .emacs.
