Buffer ring

cntl b gets the last buffer, and you can go back and forth. Is there
code anywhere for a "buffer ring" - like a kill ring, but different
buffers (duhh!!) I would also need to be able to specify the buffers

There is M-x bury-buffer RET. Only one direction, though. A number
of packages have been written to provide the other direction, too.
Maybe you'll like pc-bufsw.el? Or cyclebuffer.el? And then there is
bs.el which provides this, too.

You might try iswitchb.el.
