Can somebody help me to configure Emacs, such that I can read the messages from emacs-devel using it?

You're asking for an Emacs MUA (Mail User Agent)?

The (probably?) most widely used one is Gnus, but there are others
like Rmail, MH-E, and some that are not included in Emacs.
