I still get the same result.
Also, I don't see any changes to this function in CVS/Git. Am I missing
something?
(I'm starting to think that this should actually be fixed in
Mercurial. I'll file a bug report.)

We switched to bzr, so CVS is not updated anymore. Look in bzr...
