Hi,

on my Fedora installation there is no /dev/dvd, the optical drive is
/dev/sr0. Unfortunately, gnome-mplayer (SVN from yesterday) will forget
the setting every now and then and try to use /dev/dvd. Is there any way
to investigate it further?

Regards,
Julian

Hi Kevin,

I checked out the latest SVN and it seems to be better. The only
device shown in the drop-down list is still only /dev/dvd, so maybe
this is related?

Julian

Julian,

Looks like something is broken in the drive detection code. I know it
used to work, so now I have a bug to work around.

I have an idea of how to fix it. I should be able to get in later today.
But don't hold me to it, work is a mess right now.

Julian,

The attached file works correctly on RHEL 6.3, but outputs nothing on
F17. So I'm pretty sure we have a bug in GIO/GLIB here.

RHEL 6.3 output

./gio2
vm is 0x179ec00
drives is 0x17b9360
500 GB Hard Disk eject = 0 poll = 0 volumes = 1
Unix device = /dev/sda
CD/DVD Drive eject = 0 poll = 1 volumes = 0
Unix device = /dev/sr0

Hi,

The workaround seems to be working.
