Yup, all the code is in the extension, people just need to unzip it. Fortunately I just finished school so I should have some time to fix this now. This hasn't been a real urgent thing to me because I don't run into the problem since I have Google remember my password.

Maybe its just me and I don't know the firefox addon development that
well, but I believe all source code is in your addon/extension
directory for all installed addons and obviously anyone can update it
and make it their own..

I saw that, but Chrome bookmarks don't get imported directly from
Google Bookmarks and exporting via html files causes loss of meta data
so how's that any good?

And you can't use them (the bookmarks) in firefox because there is not sync
with these bookmarks addon

In chrome open the preferences, go to personal stuff, and you should see an option to sync your bookmarks.
They show up in the google chrome folder of google docs.

Yeah, the cause is two-fold:
1. Google made changes to their authentication process; and
2. the author of this addon hasn't had time to fix it.

I am getting so tired of having to sign in to a Google service just to
retrieve my Google Bookmarks.

If the author hasn't got time to fix this I completely understand.

I'll second that. I just counted (Exported to HTML, ran

grep HREF bookmarks.html | wc -l

and got 865. I can't work without GMarks either.

Fail Logins?

Recently, I've been getting intermittent problems retrieving my
bookmarks... I have a Google Apps domain, and somedays it works fine,
and others it doesn't...

Any ideas what would cause this?

I can't live without Gmarks. Firefox will remain my default browser

Yeah but!
1) Google system is not cross platform. I use Firefox on 3 pcs (Vista,
XP e Ubuntu) +one at work (XP) and I want to use Chrome/Chromium on
some of my home machines but I reaaly want to keep bookmarks synched
so I wait for Gmarks for Chrome

2) They sync with gDocs not with gBookmarks. This is a lame move for

Google does have their own syncing of standard bookmarks to Google Docs
though.

Me too want a version of GMarks for Chrome. Theyr (Google) integration
don't work crossplatform with Firefox or IE so I don't switck to
Chrome 'till I have this extension working.

Various google tools would let you create an account using a non-gmail
mailbox. One example is Google Voice. My domain is a google app, but
Google Voice treats it as a 3rd party email address..

I don't understand how you could ever use a yahoo address for google bookmarks. That doesn't seem to make sense.

I am also using FF 3.5 and Ctrl-D does not work.
The Firefox bookmark dialog comes up and then it saves the bookmark to
Firefox's bookmarks.
I have the Ctrl-D option checked.

If there are any fixes to this, please post them.

Sorry, but the dunce student is back. I go into Firefox, click on Gmarks.
Then I highlight all of the various folders I have. Then click export.
Then I go over to Safari and import the bookmarks.html folder just exported.

Thank you for fast response. I had found the instructions you sent before
but was unable to do it correctly because I could not find the proper File
to click. I did not realize it was back up, of course, and had been
looking for it on the window that had opened with all of the bookmark.

Hello: just loaded GMarks, opened up Firefox, GMarks tab there and
all of my Google bookmarks are there (no need for any import): in
short, all well so far. Now i am trying to export the googles
bookmarks to an html file that i will then import into my Safari

The first one would be very welcome. For now you can, via Customize Toolbar,
drag Add Gmark or Quick Add Gmark to your Navigation Toolbar.

The "Add All" is more than welcome. For now you may have this functionality
via Google Toolbar.

I loved the idea behind your add-on and have had it installed for some
time. However, the first thing I noticed after installing it was that
bookmarking a page either of the ways I am accustomed to was not

Yes, you are right. I only have it on one computer as well. They
have identical versions of all software. (and I just updated them to
the latest of everything, and restarted firefox, and one works, and

Just to point some errors when exporting and importing bookmarks in GMarks

Importing to Google Bookmarks
-> If the same url is in two folders, just one gets imported. The correct
behaviour would be the same as Google Toolbar: add as many tags as folders
the bookmark is in

The 'Bookmark all tabs' bookmark menu entry is firefox specific only. The
Ctrl-D combo for GMarks, when enabled, just saves one bookmark at a time
(to be saved on Google Bookmarks).. The Bookmarks menu is for firefox, not
for GMarks.

It's probably because you have a gtk combo assigned to the Bookmarks menu

It's here:

Options -> Other -> Enable Ctrl+D/Ctrl+Shift+D Support

where Ctrl+Shift+D is the keyboard shortcut for bookmark all tabs in
Firefox.

But, instead of bookmarking into Google Bookmarks, the dialog presented is
to bookmark in the normal Firefox Bookmarks.

For now I'm doing:
1. Press Ctrl+D

i was longing to remove the google toolbar but i dont until now when
i find gmark.
My question was for the google toolbar sort/present the bookmarks in
one form and gmark sort them reordening them( a lot of them with

I have a lots of bookmarks and the position are organized how i liked
it but gm rearrange them.
