I would really like Gmail to have an automatic BBC option, so that a
copy of each eMail I write will be sent as BCC to an eMail-address I
specify. All the attempts to tweak Gmail via a Greasemonkey script
failed, so I would like Google to implement this feature directly into
the interface.

If you would like this, too, then please consider signing my online
petition:
www.petitiononline.com/gmailbcc/petition.html

Also, you would do me a great favour by spreading the word about this
petition.

Thanks!

It would be easier, and more effective (I think) to just suggest it
via the suggestion page and encourage others to do so (which you
can/did through this group). That way it goes directly into the hands
of the developers instead of filling up an online petition site, which
are prone to certain amounts of spamming.

Also, you can create a filter which searches for "from:me" and does
the action "forward to:email@address" which should accomplish what
you're looking for.

Hi Zack (Doc),

unfortunately, your suggestion did not work, as I believe the filters
are just for incoming mails.

Anyway, it did not work when I tried it.

Yes, I have already tried a suggestion via the Google site, but it
seems it didn't help, hence the petition.

As long as the feature will be implemented soon through the users
support, I don't mind if they do it via suggestion form or my
petition. Just do it. ;-)

At least, I know that the "IMAP" petition seems to have worked.

Actually many filters work easily as well on both incoming and
outgoing. Perhaps the same factor that prevents it from working in a
search (testing a filter) also prevents it from working to forward
outgoing ones. I can verify though that some work on outgoing, as I
have filters that mark outgoing messages with certain labels.

Actually IMAP was heavily suggested, as I know from the extensive
discussions on forums like this (a good way to get more people
suggesting your ideas are to discuss them somewhere like here). I
can't say for certain that a petition did or did not have anything to
do with IMAP getting added, I CAN say that I've seen many features
added that I know only received suggestion support.

OK then, I will try the suggestion form once again.

I would still be happy if you, the Gmail users, could support me here,
either by

signing the petition,
digging my article on www.saphod.net/2008/08/06/gmail-automatic-bcc-option-petition/
,
spreading the word to others,
using the suggestion form as suggested by Zack.

I am going mad with this, because typing in the same BCC every time is
really getting on my nerves, and if I once forget, I have to forward
the email - which unfortunately does not include headers etc. and
therefore destroys the copy I would like to have.

As I said; even the Greasemonkey Script did not work properly.

It is a small step for Google, but a huge help for mankind! :-)
