Click the tiny drop-down arrow at the bottom right corner of that window and then select "Switch back to old compose."

Anyone know how to get back to the full size window?

I did the same thing as FSR and now I can't compose anything--original
emails or replies. When I select reply a new type of email composition
format appears and I am locked out of everything, including selecting
any drop down boxes, entering message content, sending, etc. Even
discard message doesn't work. All I can do is go back to my inbox.

BTW, I've had a message to upgrade to Google Chrome because Gmail no
longer supports my browser but Chrome doesn't work on my non-Intel PPC
architecture.

Maybe if I try logging in via Safari I can do what you suggest, but
with Firefox 3.6.27 for Mac OS 10.4.11 I seem to be screwed.

Have you tried the "Switch back to old compose"option?  You see this option when you select the small down arrow at the bottom right of the new compose screen.

I'm running Chrome and accidentally opted into the new compose screen and do not like it.  I have tried the arrow to move back to the older version of the compose screen but it does not do anything.  I've also tried selecting it and reloading the page and it doesn't do anything either.  Anyone have any suggestions?

You're replying to a post from November last year. The old compose is gone forever, we knew it was going eventually and have had since October last year to switch.

I've heard some people complain on this list about the new compose but I'll say it again, I'm yet to hear a good argument for the old compose. It may be your opinion that it is the worst thing to happen but I disagree, I find it to be an improvement over the old compose.
I fully agree with that article's author: "I've briefly switched to the old compose experience and I was surprised to see how cluttered it was: "add cc", "add bcc", "insert invitation", "check spelling", a lot of rich-text editing buttons. It looked like a document editor, not like a communication software."
I also wish to have more space for my message, I don't need all the other clutter visible all the time. I want to write email, not design a Word document.
If I want formatting, I simply use keyboard short-cuts or click once to bring up the options. This one single click that some are making such a fuss about.

I'll have to admit that I'm one that didn't care for the new compose/reply forms. But now that I've used them a few days, it really isn't all that bad. It's not nearly as cluttered, but you *do* need to know where to look for things.  The stuff that I use often will soon become second nature.

Give me a month and I'd probably hate it if they backed it out and went back to the old compose.

I have to admit I don't understand those that scream and shout that they'll leave if it doesn't go back. It's like they don't realize they'll have an entirely different product they'd have to learn if they did. That's a whole lot more work than spending a little time to become familiar with the new way of composing and replying.

I think that option is now gone for everybody.  If I remember correctly they announced last week that everybody will be switched to the new compose screen.
