I'm starting a list of "issues" with various aspects of gmail. While
the technical savvy user may be quite comfortable with gmail as is, I
believe Google would benefit by expanding their target market to users
who are less technical. In particular seniors (like my grandmother)
are starting to use email more, and their needs may require further
consideration from the gmail designers.

Did you want to share your list with us?

Or perhaps would you like some of us to send you our pet peeves to add to
your list?

I am a little curious why you feel Gmail is best for the technically
inclined and not for the ordinary non-technical users. Me, I find some
aspects of Gmail are dumbed-down, a bit too much for my tastes. But to each
his or her own. Anyway, a user interface can be a highly personal thing and
difficult to satisfy everyone at the same time.

What things about Gmail are not so good for Seniors, or what things could it
use that it doesn't have? I'm just asking out of curiosity, since we don't
work for Google so we can't influence how Gmail works any more than you can
(and yes, you can, to a limited degree).

I'm one of those 'seniors', and I couldn't agree more!  I've happily used gmail for two years and still have been unable to use cut/copy/paste in a way reasonably similar to AOL.   I've read the 'cut and paste; daily user group page for a year and have learned nothing to help this techniclally challenged senior physician get out of kindergarden.

I love gmail, but we latecomers need help in accessing more of gmail's capability.

Hope your idea bears fruit.

Now I'm intrigued: Richard, do the standard Windoze set of
CtrlX, CtrlC and CtrlV not work for you then?
As a septuagenarian user myself I've used these in every type
of Windoze program, although I've never belonged to AOL, so I'm
thoroughly intrigued as to what they use instead!!
