Auto text quoting is destroying my html tables

I have a server that sends html emails to clients with tables of data
in them. The server sends a copy of each email sent to my gmail
account. Naturally, gmail groups them all together in my inbox as
part of the same conversation because the subject is always the same,
and in the later emails in the conversation thread the tables are
screwed up, with certain table cells replaced by 'show quoted text'
which knocks the table rows out of kilter. When I click on these
'show quoted text' links, they reveal nothing and simply switch to
saying 'hide quoted text'.

It would seem that gmail's auto quoting feature is being a little over-
zealous here. Can you put a lower limit on the size of items that
will be 'quoted' so it doesn't do this? Or make sure it does not try
to 'quote' small elements of structured data such as you would find in
data tables?

I guess I could change the subject line for every email so that they
are no longer grouped into 'conversations' but that would be a shame
because I find that useful.

Here's a better idea. Since there are many people complaining about
this auto-quoting feature doing things they weren't expecting, give us
the option to switch the thing off globally or when viewing a
particular conversation thread. It could be implemented as a 'global
show quoted text' option instead of having to click on every
individual 'show quoted text' link in each email in the conversation.
