OS is Win 7 on one computer, Win XP on the other. Fully updated with
SPs, updates. No plug-ins or "labs" in Gmail. Norton Internet Security
with firewall, Malwarebytes.
I like the keyboard shortcuts. The Tab-Enter shortcut works fine for
Sending and original email, but if I'm Replying to someone else's
mail, it seems to send my reply to Drafts instead. Is there a shortcut
which will actually Send a reply?
I need to add that the "Tab-Enter" shortcut doesn't always work with
original emails either. Even with original emails (not those which are
Replies) it Tab-Enter will create a Draft instead of sending. At other
times it will open a strange web site, one which apparently sells dog
beds (very odd!).
If it worked, Tab-Enter would be one of the handiest keyboard
shortcuts. Is there a way to make it work, or is there another
shortcut which actually does work all the time (other than going back
to the mouse and clicking the "Send" button?

Tab and Enter are really just standard keyboard functions: Tab moves focus to the next control and Enter activates a control. If you're typing a message/reply, then that input area has focus (that's where the text cursor is). The Send button is the next control after the input area. Hitting Tab will move focus to the Send button; then hitting Enter (or the space-bar) will activate the [Send button] control.
