Subject: Can I make Gmail "forget" a recipient?

There's a person to whom I (at least once) sent mail using the form of his
personal name as "firstname lastname".  I.e., no capital letters.

I prefer to capitalize names as Firstname Lastname, and have set up this
person in My Contacts with his name the way I want it.

But whenever I start to type in his name, it always comes up with the
non-capitalized form, and only that form.

Can I somehow make Gmail forget that non-capitalized form?

I have searched within Contacts and can't find any other instance of this
person's name -- only the Contact I specifically created.

Thanks in advance--

According to the help page for auto-complete, Gmail should only be
suggesting names from your contacts.

Did you also check the "other contacts" section in your contacts list to
see if the name is entered that way there?

Thanks.  Yes, I did check Other Contacts.  I also did a search for
duplicates.  I'm unable to find the uncapitalized version except when
auto-complete kicks in.

What about emails this person sends to you?  Do they list their name in all
lowercase?  I've noticed a lot of people online don't bother capitalizing
proper nouns even when it's their own name.  I wonder if Gmail would
remember how names in emails received from someone are displayed.

Another possibility - I wonder if this could be the browser's
auto-complete kicking in? If so, when the auto-complete entry shows up, you
should be able to highlight it and delete it.

No, it wasn't the browser's auto-complete.  Also, I cleared the cache and
cookies, and that made no difference.  (I also tried different browsers.)

What I ended up doing was to make a note elsewhere of the contact info
(including what contact groups the person was in), and then I deleted the
contact entry altogether.  I recreated the entry as I wanted it, and all
was as I wished it to be.

So I still don't know how Gmail stored that form of the name that I didn't
like, but at least I know the workaround.
