> What are “canned responses”?
"Canned Responses" are a feature enabled in Gmail Labs. It lets you
save pre-written emails, or portions of emails, and then insert them
into a message later. They are handy if you need to send the same
response several times, for saving templates, etc.

That's odd, but the timing was probably coincidental.

There is nothing to clear out. I think that would not have affected
the status of your account.
I think just about the only way to lose an account so that it is no
longer there, is if you go into account settings and actually delete
it.
Or, if you had violated the terms of your agreement with Google (that
you might have read when you opened your account), Google could have
shut it down. But you probably would have had to do something really
bad or illegal for that to happen.
What I think might have happened, is that you either forgot your
password, or someone else guessed your password and then changed it so
you could no longer login to your account. The account might still be
there!

As far as we know, nobody in this group works for Google, so you
haven't told them yet.
Try reporting the problem to Google. On the Gmail login page
(
gmail.com or
mail.google.com), click on the "Can't access your
account?" link. If the account is still there and if you can prove
sufficiently that it was yours (and have access to the secondary email
address you specified for things like this), they might restore your
access to the account.
