Automatically choose sending account based on receiving email...

This probably belongs in a "suggested feature" box somewhere, but I
thought I would try here first.

Say I have two accounts that I can send from using gmail: j...@abc.com
and j...@xyz.com

I would love it if I could set up rules such that if I am sending to
an xyz.com email address gmail will by default choose my j...@xyz.com

I haven't seen this.
But for the past month, I keep getting new spam going into my Inbox, a
dozen or so daily. They all look the same, they all are obvious spam
(you can tell from the sender, the subject, and the body), and I keep
marking them as spam over and over. And over. I think something must

I've seen this a couple of times over the past month or so... all of
the sudden 20-50 previously marked as read spam messages are moved
from the spam folder to my inbox automatically. Has anyone had this
happen to them?

Interesting. I just tried it myself, even using cut-and-paste to get
the subject exactly right, three times and got three new threads!
(Also tried it with a "Re:" prefix to see if it made any difference.)
So apparently, Google is using more information than just the subject,
to decide how to group messages into threads.

Thanks Chris & Andrew. So I tried both fwd with (fwd:subject) & w/out
(subject) and neither seem to create merged singular thread. Does the
suggested work-around still produce two threads but produce similar
subject lines? Is that the workaround or is there something I'm
missing in my effort to merge? Thanks, JB

There is no easy way ... Google doesn't give that to us as a control, either
to break threads apart, or to merge them together. (The only thing we can
do, is delete individual messages in a thread, if you are careful how you do
it.)
Messages are put into threads by virtue of their subject, apparently; though

Forward thread2 to yourself with the same subject as thread1. Then you
will at least have a copy of everything all in one place.

Whoops! Nope, nothing gmail related (only of interest to those using Dokuwiki).
I think I typed "gmail" in the To: box which usually is a shortcut to
my personal gmail address. I must have hit send a little too quick on
this one. ;-)

Are you looking for a way (advanced search) to find the photos in your
email archive, or a way to move the photos en-masse to picasa? I think
there's a solution for either (or both) but I'm not sure I understand
what you're looking to do...
