Hi all ... I've been lurking for about 2 months and I haven't seen an
answer to my problem yet, so I'm finally posting the issue. I'm using
Firefox 3.0.1 with Modified Macros. At first, I used M. Macros through
Better Gmail 2, but I started having problems a little while ago and
switched to the straight script and Greasemonkey. Either way, I get
the same issue.

The problem is this: I can't use Modified Macros commands from the
inbox. I often highlight messages and assign batch labels or do batch
deletes, and M. Macros was really great for doing this quickly. The
Modified Macros commands still work perfectly when I am looking at a
single message, but for some reason, when I'm in the Inbox, the
shortcuts do nothing. I have the latest version of the script. Anyone
else experience this problem? Please let me know!

Same problem here. If you left-click outside the message listing area
they work again. It's a Gmail issue - MM2 can't fix it.

See this post of mine asking the same thing:

I'm not sure that MM2 can't fix it, it seems as if the elements focused before the shorcut is pressed are not catching the keypress. Perhaps MM2 could change those elements in a way that the keypresses are intercepted and handled by MM2 to produce the desired actions.

More specifically, it seems that are the checkboxes that don't catch the keypresses, perhaps MM2 could search for all the checkboxes in the DOM and add event handlers to them. If I find the time I'll try to work on a patch to do this.

Cheers,
Santiago

Labeling has stopped working now altogether. When I press "l" the
"Apply Label" box appears but then I can type in the entire label name
- any label name - and it will not apply. It just sits there not
knowing where to go!

I guess this is it then for MM2?

Still works for me... I would edit the script and uncomment the debug
statements on line 1172. Then open firefox's error console, press 'Z'
and then try to apply a label. you should get an output of all the
labels available. If you are getting the whole list you might want to
delete the script and try to reinstall. If you aren't getting the
list let me know and I'll try to think of something. It's possible a
new change is rolling out. Have you recently enabled any labs
features?

sewaply,

I tried what you instructed - got what appears to be the whole list.
So I removed Modified Macros and then reinstalled it fresh. Restarted
Gmail and tried to apply a label and the exact same thing happens.

Just not working here.

sewaply,

Applying labels is working again. Not sure what was wrong. I did have
a few Labs features enabled - I had tried the relatively new Labs
feature that moves the labels to the right of the page. After trying
it I decided I didn't like it that much and disabled it that same day.
But just for the heck of it I disabled ALL Labs features and cleared
the cache again and tried the MM2 - this time, however I tried it via
the latest Better Gmail extension and temporarily disabled the GM
script. Suddenly labels are working again.

Because I made a few changes I'm not at all certain exactly which was
causing the problem. Or maybe Jupiter wasn't quite aligned with Mars
or something!

Thanks!

Hello - lurker turned member here. Thanks sewpafly for a great
addition to gmail!

I've had both of these issues arise.

First, the issue of not being able to execute MM actions after
clicking to select an email or a group of emails - the workaround is
to hit tab and all actions will work. Obviously not ideal, but it's
fast.

Second, I have been having trouble labeling with Labs add-ons - as
mentioned above. I logged into the 'Labs Disabled' version of gmail,
and labeling resumed working perfectly. The symptoms of this problem:
The label pop-up appears, but no matter what you type, it cannot match
a label and will never select a label. So the workaround was to simply
log in to: http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0 (or the appropriate
version if you use Google Apps) and labeling will work.

I'd like to request that this issue is pursued as a bug, because the
labs features are kick-ass and it's no fun to disable labs to enable
MM's labeling features.

Thank you!

Can you figure out which lab feature made the labels stop working? I
use several of the labs features and don't have any problems with the
labels.

I also had this same problem.

Disabling the labs feature that moved the labels to the right fixed
this problem for me after clearing the cache and reloading gmail.

When you move the labels to the right, it breaks GreaseMonkey GMail
api's function to list labels.

Definitely the Labels on Right Lab feature is breaking it. Also
confirmed that the Drag-n-Drop Navbar Components lab feature does not
break MM, works great.

Thank you!
