Convert Outlook Smileys into Gmail Smileys - Webdings J

If you get an email from Microsoft Outlook, any smileys they insert
turn into a webdings J (read here: http://www.jaanuskase.com/en/2006/02/what_does_j_mean.html)

It would be cool if gmail would translate these into smilies for us. I
communicate with people using outlook often and they really are quite
annoying...

I was searching for this on the web and found out that only in Firefox
is this problem and not in IE. But i believe this is because MS
products all use wingdings font and Firefox doesn't.

Can anyone tell us how to change the "J" in a smiley?

It's annoying.

Yes, it's annoying and I'd like a fix too. My employer uses a mixture of Outlook and Gmail so this happens a lot. There are a couple of Greasemonkey scripts out there claiming to fix it ("Alt J" and "J for Smile"), but they don't work for me. I don't want fancy graphics - just the good old ASCII :), :| and :( symbols would do.
