I use a variety of Gmail lab features in two different Acounts.
In one of them the Mark as Read appears while in the other it doesn't.
It also depends on whether you are in the multiple Inbox mode or
simple mode with a Search Query.

Lot of Spam seen with "Mark as Read" button

I enabled the labs feature today. I enabled two things:-
1> Mark as read button
2> Google docs to the left side
After I enabled these, I am getting lot of spam in my inbox. Why is
this?
I would expect spam filtering module to be separate from these
features. Likely bug?....is it possible to fix this coz i really like... more »

Great button, very useful, but would be even better if it
automatically switches between mark as read and mark as unread
depending on the selected messages. If both read and unread messages
are selected, maybe it should show 2 buttons (one to mark as read and
another to mark as unread).

Button in Drafts

Hi,
I think that when you are in the Draft section, it's not necessary to
have the "mark as read" button.
In any case, very useful button -except in drafts .-)

In fact, it would be more useful than Mark as Read itself - because
messages are marked read when you read them.
A quick Mark as Unread button is exactly what is needed.
Using the same button as Mark as Read makes it easy, and easy to find.

Hello. I just wanted to say, I really like this button because it has
saved me a heck of a lot of time. If it could also be combined with a
"Mark as Unread" function, that would then just be perfect! Thanks
for the great ideas!

I love this feature, but here are some improvements I'd love to see,
all of which I know others have said, but hopefully volume counts.
1) "Mark as Unread" - but my preference would be for *one* intelligent
button that served both "read" and "unread" purposes, depending on the

Feedback for mark as read button

The Mark as Read button is a good feature enabled by google as it
helps to save time of clicking the menu and selecting mark as read. I
would also like it to also de-select all the items marked as read by
the button as that is the normal process I think a person is supposed
to do.

Great feature (better placement?)

This is great! I use Mark As Read all the time, and this button
probably speeds up my e-mail management x2! I always have to search
for it, though, and I accidentally click the Delete button fairly
often when I use this button. It feels like it should be more to the
left.
