I have noticed that unlike movies, you cannot get a tv show added to
the Glue Index if one already exists of the same name. This is not a
problem with same named movies, since they have different directors.
Television shows have different casts, obviously, but even when
attempts to add from IMDB are made it refuses to add a new entry.
Since a new page for The Cape cannot be created, this results in
having a guru and users checking-in to discuss the upcoming 2011 NBC
series The Cape, on the page for the same named 1996 series. We are
going to have a serious problem on January 9th, 2011 when the series
actually premieres. We can't expect users to continue to check-in to
the 1996 series for the 2011 series. Also there is a new series coming
in 2011 to AMC called The Killing. A page for a 2007 television series
The Killing aka Forbrydelsen already exists, so again a new page
cannot be created. I have noticed for tv shows and movies, the website
address ignores 'the' and 'a' in name titles. For example to get to
the page for the tv show The Simpsons, you just type in
getglue.com/
tv_shows/simpsons - Perhaps this distinction could be the key to
getting these same named shows successfully added? There already
exists
getglue.com/tv_shows/cape... Maybe the 2011 show could be
getglue.com/tv_shows/the_cape ? I cannot understand why no one else
has brought this up yet, as far as I can tell but it really does need
to be addressed very soon. NBC's The Cape and AMC's The Killing, and
whatever other tv shows that happen to have the same name, need to
have their own entries so they are represented properly.
