Is it possible to make non-authenticated calls using just the consumer
key and secret? The API documention implies that this is possible:
"Calls that access public data need only to be signed using your
developer key." I have attempted this with a few calls that seem to
conceptually not require a user such as /object/get and /glue/
categories but get authorization errors. Do I need to authenticate
with essentially a dummy account (such as my personal account) and use
the resulting token for requests without an end user? Or should all
requests to the GetGlue API only occur after an end user has
authorized, even if it is general data that doesn't require a specific
user?

Thanks for your help!

Hi David,

At this time, yes you have to authenticate with an account to get all data -- including "public" data under /glue and /object.

I agree that this is somewhat inconvenient and will track this as a request we'll look into.
