* AUTOMOBILE: The Tata Group is developing an electric car worth over 1 mln rupees in partnership with France 's Dassault Systemes.

* CAPITAL GOODS: The Prime Minister's Office has asked the power ministry to prepare a fresh Cabinet note on the issue of imposing duty on import of power equipment.

* DEFENCE: LARSEN & TOUBRO, TATA POWER, AND HCL consortium in race for 100-bln-rupee defence order.

* ECONOMY: India 's annual inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers fell marginally to 7.77% in May from 7.84% a month ago.

* ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: The power ministry to soon move a Cabinet note proposing levy of 21% on imported power equipment.

* EXCHANGES: The BSE will suspend trading in 48 scrips from Jul 11 for non- compliance with provisions of listing norms.

* MEDIA: The government has extended the deadline for digitisation of analogue cable television network in metro cities until Oct 31 from Jun 30.

* METALS: ArcelorMittal is considering cutting more capacity in Europe to tackle overcapacity and shrinking demand in the region.

* PHARMACEUTICALS: American drug making company Merck has started talks with Micro Labs to acquire the company.

* POWER: The finance and power ministries are close to finalising a financial package for debt-ridden power distribution companies.

* REGULATORY: The Securities and Exchange Board of India in its board meet on Jun 26 is likely to discuss scrutinising all auditor qualifications of balance sheets of listed companies.

* TAXATION: Government has exempted 14 more items from services tax, taking the total tally of items in the negative list to 38.

* TELECOM: The Prime Minister's Office wants the Empowered Group of Ministers to take a decision on the 2G spectrum reserve price before Pranab Mukherjee exits as finance minister.

* TEXTILES: The textile ministry has raised the export target for the sector to $41 bln from $38 bln for 2012-13 (Apr-Mar).
