MARKETS

Asian Market is trading mixed as Hang Seng was down by 0.29% while Nikkei 225 was up by 0.06% and Chinese markets were up by 0.03%. Asian stocks snapped a five-day decline and oil advanced as investors awaited details of a European Central Bank plan to stem the region’s debt crisis. The Australian dollar strengthened after the nation’s jobless rate unexpectedly fell. Overnight U.S. markets were down by 0.09%.  SGX Nifty at 8:00AM was trading at 5235 with a loss of 11points.

     EQUITY MOVERS:

* Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Ltd.: The cement and power company will buy 5.5 million shares of Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.

for 19.5 rupees apiece, the company said in a statement to stock exchanges.

 

OTHER NEWS:

* Net income at Bharti Airtel fell to 7.63 billion rupees in the quarter ended June 30, from 12.2 billion rupees a year earlier, after network costs

increased and competition squeezed margins.

* The sale of convertible bonds by Jaiprakash Associates Ltd., the builder of India’s only Formula One racing track, suggests investors are regaining

 appetite for the debt as the nation’s stocks attract the biggest inflows in Asia.

* Indian equities are attracting the highest foreign flows in the region as investors speculate that the worst may be over for the nation’s biggest

* An Indian mobile-phone billionaire is trying to turn a $75 million investment in a Mozambique oil license into a $3 billion payday, banking on

competition between the world’s largest energy companies to drive up the price of East Africa’s virgin natural-gas fields. Videocon Industries Ltd.,

controlled by Venugopal Dhoot, owns 10 percent of Mozambique’s Rovuma-1 offshore block, where more gas has been discovered than in Libya’s entire reserves.

* European Central Bank President Mario Draghi’s task today is straight-forward: produce a plan to save the euro.
