MARKETS

Asian Market is trading higher as Hang Seng was up by 0.59% while Nikkei 225 was up by 1.66% and Chinese markets up by 0.88%. Asian stocks rose, with the regional benchmark index headed for its highest close in a month, after China’s economic growth in the third quarter matched economists’ estimates and U.S. housing starts jumped. Overnight U.S. markets were up by 0.04percent.  SGX Nifty at 8:00AM was trading at 5691 with a gain of 30 points .

     EQUITY MOVERS:

  * Indian Oil Corp., the nation’s largest refiner, plans to  shut a catalytic reforming unit at its Barauni plant and a diesel hydrodesulfurizer

 at its Haldia facility in November and December.

  * IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd. got a loan of 3.96b rupees. The co. also got a contract from the National  Highways Authority of India.

  * Mahindra & *Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. picked three banks including Citigroup Inc. and JM Financial Services  Pvt. to manage a share sale to

 Institutions.

  * MOIL Ltd. 1H profit -3.69 percent from yr earlier.

  * Oil India Ltd., the nation’s second-largest state oil explorer, selected Citigroup Inc., Kotak Mahindra Capital  Co. and HSBC Holdings Plc

to manage a 10% stake sale.

  * Rallis India Ltd. 2Q profit 656.7m rupees vs 618.7m rupees.

 

OTHER NEWS:

  * Mumbai-based HDFC, as the co. is known, may keep rates at  10.25% for credit of less than 3m rupees ($56,866), Keki  Mistry,

CEO, said in an interview. State Bank of India, the  nation’s largest lender, offers home loans at 10%.

  * Profit at ACC may gain to 2.94b rupees in 3Q ended Sept. 30  from 1.68b rupees a yr earlier.

  * Hindustan Zinc likely to report profit of 13.7b rupees in 2Q  vs 13.4b rupees, median of 29 analyst estimates shows.

  * Mphasis, Piramal Enterprises to be excluded from NSE F&O  list with effect from Dec. 28, NSE says in statement.

  * India and Australia agreed to begin civil nuclear trade
