MARKETS
Asian Market is trading mixed as Hang Seng was down by 0.18% while Nikkei 225 were down by 0.05% and Chinese markets were down by 0.06%. Asian stocks gained, with the regional benchmark snapping a six-day losing streak, while U.S. equity futures rose and oil trimmed losses on speculation China will add stimulus after the economy slowed for a sixth quarter. Overnight U.S. markets were down by 0.25percent. Nifty at 8:30AM was trading at 5247 with a loss of 6.00 points and is likely to trade between 5240 and 5300 levels.

ECONOMY:
* 12:30 p.m. India to release June provisional ’External Trade Data.’
EQUITY MOVERS:
* Geojit BNP Paribas Ltd. The financial services company’s group profit almost doubled to 84.7 million rupees for the first-quarter ended
June 30, compared with 43 million rupees a year ago, according to an exchange filing.
* Mobile-Phone Companies: A group of ministers approved allowing mobile-phone operators to mortgage spectrum, Telecom Minister
Kapil Sibal said in New Delhi yesterday.
* Sugar Mills: India will ask mills to sell more sugar in the local market under the free-sale quota to curb domestic prices, Food Minister K.V.

* Borrowing costs for Indian companies have surged to a three- year high after the worst economic slowdown in nine years prompted
credit-rating cuts.
* Welspun Energy Ltd., India’s biggest developer of solar projects, said the nation will surpass its sun-powered generation target by two-fold
over the next decade amid shortages of coal and natural gas.
* The National Stock Exchange will introduce a new debt security class that will allow overseas investors to trade in long-term infrastructure
corporate bonds during the lock-in period, the bourse said in a statement on its website. The new security type
will be introduced from today.
* Foreign funds bought a net 2.69 billion rupees of Indian shares in the cash segment yesterday, according to provisional data from the exchanges.
Domestic funds sold net 5.38 billion rupees of stocks.
* India’s monsoon was 23 percent below a 50-year average since June 1. The nation got 209 millimeters of rainfall in the June 1 to July 12 period,
the India Meteorological Department said on its website. That is less than the 270.6 millimeter average considered normal for the period, it said.

* Lenders borrowed 466.65 billion rupees from the central bank’s repurchase auction window yesterday, according to Reserve Bank of India data.
* One-year interest-rate swaps, or derivative contracts used to guard against fluctuations in funding costs, fell 13 basis points to 7.58 percent yesterday,
data compiled by Bloomberg show.
