NTPC said that the Unit 4 of 500 megawatts (MW) of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station is declared under Commercial Operation from 30 September 2012. With this the commercial capacity of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station will reach 2,000 MW and that of NTPC Group will be 37,174 MW, NTPC said.

National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) joint venture (JV) with Government of Kerala - Transformers and Electricals Kerala (TELK), has recorded its higher ever production of 5,806 MVA achieving a capacity utilization factor of 130% as against the industry average of 75%.

The sales turnover, net of excise duty increased by 2.5% and stood at Rs 196.86 in 2011-12. The Financial Year 2011-12 witnessed extremely difficult and adverse market conditions with intense price war amongst the domestic players due to over capacity and entry of foreign players. Besides, the profit after tax for the current year is placed at Rs 13.21 crore registering a growth of 8.28% compared to the previous year.

TELK manufactures Extra High Voltage Power Transformers (up to 315 MVA, 420 kV) and other equipments (CT, PT, Bushings) up to 420 kV class.
