Wang Shi is one of China’s most renowned business leaders. The company he founded in 1984, China Vanke Co. Ltd, is China’s largest residential real estate developer, and one of the most respected companies in the country. In July 2012 Wang Shi was elected Chair of the China Entrepreneurs Forum.

Wang Shi is also a passionate mountaineer, and has reached the summit of Everest from both the North and South ramps in 2003 and 2012 respectively. He is also one of only 11 people in the world to have accomplished ‘7+2’ – reaching the peaks of the 7 highest mountains in the world in 2004 as well as reaching the North and South Poles in 2005.

His adventuring spirit has inspired his vision of global environmental sustainability – something that he is well placed to contribute to given his position at the helm of one of the world’s leading real estate construction companies. He has led numerous environmental initiatives in China, particularly in the areas of natural habitat preservation, recycling and forest conservation. In 2004 he co-founded the Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology, China’s largest environmental network. He also now sits on the board of the World Wildlife Fund US, and the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Governance for Sustainability. He is currently a visiting research fellow at Harvard University, specialising in business values and ethics.

Wang Shi will speak about the development of his own vision of global corporate values, in particular addressing issues of bribery and corruption in the real world of business.
