Hi.

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center has been a drop-off spot for tote bags for over six months.  That has been a big help supporting pantries like the one at PATF and the hundreds more which serve 120,000 people each month. Its been great. The Women's Fall Fling collected quite a few totes & some lovely donations. The Community College of Allegheny Center GSA did a drive raising 200+ bags. Openly gay media personality Jason Lucarelli has worked with a ton of folks to collect nearly 700 bags (a record!)

We are doing a good job to get the word out. It is pretty simple. Donate an extra tote bag the next time you are at the GLCC. Organize a tote drive at your next pot luck. Turn it into a teachable moment with your kids to talk about hunger & the environment in an age appropriate way.

And send a message to the LGBTQ community that food pantries are available and friendly. 

Right now, we need a volunteer to "collect and transport" bags from the GLCC to one of our tote transport coordinator spots. If you are based downtown, it is a great match. If you visit the GLCC regularly, another great match. It involves one simple form and that's it. 

Its a three way win - hunger relief/environmental/LGBT.
