Has anyone heard about this potential scam in the contact lens
industry?

Is it true that daily lenses are essentially the same as longer wear
contacts, and one could expect significant savings by switching to and
reusing dailies?

I was under the impression that this was more or less common
knowledge.

When I used to wear contact lenses extensively a dozen years ago or
more, I heard this and confirmed it with my eye doctor at the time --
who had nothing to gain from me as I bought my lenses elsewhere.

I can also verify that is true. My eye doctor told me the same thing.
As long as you take care of the lenses the same way they are as good
as annual lenses. For people like me who really build up protein
quickly , lenses become very uncomfortable, even with constant
cleaning. I buy a few boxes, but not nearly as many as I would if I
purchased what I would ned to in order to follow wearing drections as
described by the mannufacturer.
