Hi,

I found this website about a year ago, but finally decided to try
ordering my glasses online.

After reviewing the websites of several companies, I decided on
39dollarglasses. Note: I was interested in glasses from
CoastalContacts, but they didn't have all the relevant frame size
information on their website; I emailed customer service, but they
were not able to provide the measurements for the frames I wanted
(they said they had measurements for other frames).

My prescription is -8.5, -1 CYL, 32 Axis (left), and -9.0, -1 CYL, 150
Axis (right), with a PD of 67. I compared the prices of 1.67 vs 1.74
high index lenses, and basically the 1.74 came out a bit cheaper and
didn't need any extra "processing" (I forget now what the website
said), so I went with 1.74. Total cost was $128.95 (frames were
$19.50, and lenses were $109.45), but with a discount, the price came
down to $116.06.

As a comparison, last year I ordered from my optometrist, and I paid
$302.40 for re-lensing ONLY [I reused my frames]. Pretty shocking
that I paid only $116.06 for frames AND lenses at 39dollarglasses.

I ordered on Nov 8, and received my glasses on Nov 16.

The glasses seem to match my prescription, though I'll wear them for a
few days to see how that goes, and might even go to WalMart to have
them double-check just to be sure. The real test will be using them
as I work during the day (on a computer). If all goes well, then I'll
order a pair of prescription sunglasses.

Regards,
Justin

A brief follow-up to my first post:

So far I'm very happy with the glasses I purchased from
39dollarglasses.com. I've never had 1.74 lenses before, and while I
haven't yet made a trip to an optometrist to have them verify the
prescription, it seems spot on to me after having worn them for a few
days now. The metal frame seems to be strong and well-made, so I'll
see how it holds up over the coming year with constant wear.

This morning I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses from 39$. I
selected their 1.67 lens in a metal frame, and the total cost came out
to $64.26 including shipping (I also got a discount by using
"glassy10" on the checkout form).

I live in the mountains and hike a lot, and have wanted a pair of
prescription sunglasses for many many years, but it was difficult to
justify the expense.... until now. :)

Regards,
Justin
