I was just in WalMart last night, and went in to browse at some of the
"edgier" frames. Well, right there on the newly redesigned walls,
were signs reading "Complete eyeglasses for $38."

Of course the question came rushing out of my mouth...the lady grinned
and showed me the 3 frames that qualify. BTW, they're nice, unisex
(smallish) sized, and available in a rectangular, rounded rectangle,
and oval shape. Limited, but 3 good shapes that should work for just
about everyone.

The lady goes on to inform me that they come with the basic coatings,
but not AR...the price is complete, including lenses. AND, they
include a 12 month breakage guarantee. Nice touch.

Gee, could they be viewing the online option as a potential threat?

When it comes time for my next pair, I'll definitely get one from
WalMart and see what they've decided to offer.

Did the $38 price only apply to single vision lenses?

Sounds like the frames would work for me, but I'm needing multifocal
lenses these days.

I was quoted for single vision...at that price, at a B/M store, it's
likely only single vision.

Was at a different WalMart today, and they had the same deal, but with
different frames. These were low quality plastic frames that would be
uncomplimentary on most people. It's their "$9" frames...whatever
that means, at any individual store.

On a related note, today I also found out that I look remarkably good
in Shuron HRG styled frames. Yep, G-man glasses. :-)

I kind of like those Shuron frames; I had a pair of sunglasses like
that once.

But what I've always wanted is a pair of small, round wire framed
glasses like John Lennon used to wear.

This will probably be my next pair:

I love Shuron frames as well. I bought a pair of the Shuron Nusir
Royales yesterday. Unfortunately Zenni didn't have anything that
looked like them or I would have purchased from Zenni. I bought mine
from Simplyeyeglasses. I like the round frames from Zenni. My son and
I each have a pair, They are pretty sturdy too.
