Second try with Goggles4u... failed attempt.

First off, I ordered a pair of varifocals for my aunt, who lives in
Turkey, and she got her pair in about 2 weeks, which is pretty good.
However she is not too sure with the prescription of the new pair. But
I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt, as from what I hear,
varifocal lenses can take some time to adjust for our eyes, with the
exception that her previous glasses are varifocals as well.

Well I ordered 2 pairs of distance glasses from goggle4u.com
afterwards, on the 20th of August, got an email on the 24th saying
that my order was shipped. Since my old pair has been broken, I was
hoping to get them asap, however goggles4u does not provide express
shipping for the USA. After many online chat sessions later on the
23rd of September, they finally told me it must be lost in transit,
and they were prepared to send me a replacement pair for free with
discount coupons for later transactions. But I was really tired of
their bullshit and I did not want to wait up to another month to get a
new pair of glasses. Even though it says that I'm entitled to a %100
refund if this is the case, it took me 15 minutes to convince them
that I do not want a replacement. And still after a week, I do not see
my refund in my bank statements so we'll see what happens with that.

Meanwhile, I have placed a new order with 39dollarglasses for 2 pairs,
with next day air shipping, which was surprisingly only for 12 bucks.
Not to mention I found a coupon for 10 $ off, so we'll see how things
go. As soon as I get my glasses I'll report my findings.

PS. I'm not here to bad mouth goggles4u, I've been reading on this
website and a lot of people seem to be getting good results from them,
just for me it seems, this experience hasn't been particularly great.

I've had good results with them prescription and quality wise  but I always tell people it usually takes at least 20 business days for me to get mine.

Well I placed an order with 39dollarglasses like I said, on October
1st. Today is the 3rd, and I got my glasses in the mail today, and so
far I'm very happy with the 2 pairs I've got. They feel comfortable on
my face, the Rx seems to be correct, and also both pairs have AR
coating. In any case, I'm glad I paid the extra 12 dollars for
shipping, that was really speedy service!

I'm a bit frustrated with goggles4u right now as well. I ordered a
pair of rx sunglasses - single vision, nothing special - on Sept
27th. Their online order tracking states they were shipped Oct 1st,
its almost the 8th already - who do they use, the Pony Express? Seems
like an awfully long time in transit for a simple pkg. I hope they
aren't "lost"...I just want my new glasses and I don't want to start
the process all over again (more waiting!), ugh

I have a theory about Goggles4u. I think they ship the glasses in
bulk to some guy out in California and then he ships them to us. The
reason I say that is because I ordered two pairs, one regular order
and the other photochromic and the regular pair allegedly shipped out
two weeks before the photochromic did. Both glasses arrived exactly
at the same time on the same day in my mailbox. I also ordered a pair
of glasses for my father and two weeks before I ordered a pair for me
and both also arrived on the same day. Again, it's just a theory.

Yeah I think you're right, that makes sense. Well in any case shopping
with them was frustrating for me mostly because I really needed the
glasses asap. Other than that, I am still yet to receive a refund from
them, and it's been over 2 weeks since I asked for it.

of them only one pair did they screw up the Rx which was replaced free
of charge once I contacted their customer service.

For people complaining about shipping times give them a break, it
takes anywhere from 10-14 days minimum to come from Pakistan that is
from my experience faster than something being shipped from the US to
Canada while costing 10x more in postage to boot !

I mean if you bought a pair at a local brick and mortar store, it
takes at least 5-7 business days before they are ready while costing
you 20x-30x more, so it is actually pretty fast if you consider
manufacturing time and shipping time to be 10-14 days while you save a
bundle !

Ok about buying them at a local store. You said it takes at least 5 -
7 days. That really has never been the case for me, maybe 2 - 3 days,
and of course it costs a lot more money, but that's not the point. If
people are on this discussion board already, they are here for the
exact same reasons, which would be - you are saving a buttload of
money if you buy your glasses online. And the purpose this board
serves is - people can share their shopping experiences with the
online Rx glasses vendors.

The reason why I have been so frustrated with the shipping time, like
I have mentioned before, is that I already had my glasses broken for a
long time, and I needed a new pair ASAP. And I can't emphasize ASAP
enough. And Goggles4u claims that their shipping times take 10 - 12
days, and in this case, I find this fact to be very misleading as it
did not turn out to be true. In this case, it took a month of waiting
before they told me my shipment was lost. And to give them credit,
they offered a replacement shipment plus coupons for discount on a
future order. For me, what that meant is yet another waiting period
for up to a month! I would have been OK with all this if I did have a
pair of glasses already.

As an update to my previous posts, I have recently bought another pair
from Zenni Optical, and will let you know of the results once I get my
package.

I've got to give G4U, and all the other retailers, this one bit of
support. Once the glasses have been shipped, it's out of their hands.
If customs hold them up, or if your package ends up being used as the
footrest for some Appalachian postmaster, they haven't any control
over this.

I've had questionable experiences with the postal service in the past.
UPS and FedEx are better, but still not flawless.

*Shipping* delays are not their fault.

I agree that shipping delays aren't their fault, but they could do
more to set realistic expectations up front.

I've ordered from Zenni about half a dozen times. I wouldn't keep
ordering from them if I didn't love them.
But I've learned to take their "Most orders will be delivered within
about two weeks..." statement with a large grain of salt.
The best delivery time has been 2.5 weeks, the worst nearly 4 weeks.
(To be fair, the 4 week order incuded progressives, and they admit
progressives take 3 to 6 days longer. The rest have all been simple
single vision). Typical delivery has been 3 weeks.

That doesn't count the over ONE YEAR late delivery and that was
entirely the fault of the post office. My first order from Zenni (over
3 years ago) never showed up. The tracking number showed no delivery,
so when I contacted Zenni after 4 or 5 weeks they agreed to replace
the glasses. The replacement pair arrived in about 3 weeks. Over a
year later, the post office finally delivered the original pair in a
badly beat up envelope with a stamp indicating they'd been discovered
in "empty" sorting equipment! The case was slightly damaged but the
glasses inside were fine. Can't blame Zenni for that, in fact, they
deserve high praise for sending the replacement without quibling or
further delay.

Zenni probably comes close to making good on 2 week delivery to their
customers on the west coast, but for those of us in midwest and east,
I think they should state 3 weeks and then we'll be satisified when
they show up in 3 weeks and delighted if they arrive in two and a
half. Under-promise and over-deliver is the principle they taught us
back when I worked in customer service.
