Well, it looks like it's time to reconsider the relative rankings of
the various e-tailers. I've had experience with only one, but of the
6 transactions I've had, they've all been perfect. That's Zenni.

The quality of their lenses has also been beyond reproach in every
case...my ophthalmologist actually checked the most recent pair of
glasses 3 times to confirm the results, as they were absolutely
perfect. I think this speaks volumes...lucking out on a single pair,
or even two, is possible...but 6 in a row?

Question: Of those who have used more than one e-tailer, how would
you rank them? Here's the list (in order of relative ranking) from
the main glassyeyes page. Judging only from my own experiences, I
would think Zenni should be a bit higher than it is.

$39
EBD
G4U
O4L
Zenni

Considering all the complaints about certain sites, lately...I figured
it would be worth revisiting this subject.

Good topic Chuck! I have had the best luck in this order:

LBW
Zenni
G4U

I mainly purchase from LBW and Zenni because I have had wonderful
experiences, unfortunately I have 10+ pairs of glasses now, so I wont
be experimenting with other retailers just yet :)

I have tried Zenni and Optical4Less. I would give overall rating of
5/5 for both since my glasses have practically no problems as far as
vision correction is concerned.

I am contemplating on ordering 2 more from Zenni, one of them will be
a pair of sunglasses with 80% tinted grey.

Has anyone ordered tinted sunglasses from Zenni? How well do they
work?

Thanks.

I agree that we need to update the rating of these stores in light of
recent feedback.

I've ordered tinted from Zenni and from G4U, and they are both great.
I think I'm more impressed with the quality of G4U. I ordered a
couple of pairs from LBW, but haven't received them yet.

Hi I have used Peerless Optical and would never order from there
again.
I have ordered from $39 while the glasses were okay and the rx right
it was over priced and they failed to ship as the website discussed.
Zenni both my daughter and I have order multiple pairs of glasses and
at pleased with the quality and with their promised delivery time
frames being accurate. My daughters Rx is simpler than mine but the Rx
on all 4 pairs are spot on.
Zenni is the best I have used! You may wait a few days longer but they
are worth it

The post seems to say they're not ranked, then goes on
to give reasons for continuing to rank Zenni last. I agree
that Zenni should be ranked higher.

I've ordered 3 eyeglasses from Zenni and one from O4l. The
three that have arrived have been perfectly satisfactory in
workmanship, accuracy of prescription, packing, and delivery
time, but Zenni's were cheaper.

Nah, he said that they USED to be ranked...and now they're simply alphabetical.

I've only tried 2 optical e-tailers, Zenni and G4U . I will give G4U a
4 rating because one lens was made bigger than the other although
people don't notice the discrepancy . I also give zenni a 4 because
although the 1st pair I ordered for my sister was perfect, the one
that I ordered for myself along with hers on the second order seem a
little off . When I put on my pair the left lens seems slightly
stronger, though I am adjusting to them. I glad these online optical
sites exist, I saved a lot of money .

I believe that the alphabetical order is the best that Ira can do,
since he gets paied by others but not Zenni, and he is a good guy!

Dear Ira:

Could you please contact Zenni about your service? I believe that
their direct customer service email address is zenn...@gmail.com,
since they sent emails to me using this address.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I guess I should suggest that we keep the way it
is. If Ira is not paid by Zenni but all the reviews are good enough,
then it is obvious that ZENNI IS THE TOP unless a lot of people are
bad mouth them.

For all the other sites besides Zenni, we should always keep a ?
marker in mind for their real ranks.

In the last few months I've gotten
* new lenses in old frames by 39dollarglasses
* two sets of tinted glasses from optical4less
* new glasses from eyebuydirect

All of them are spot on and I have no complaints at all.

So, reverse alphabetical order, then?

:-)

Knowing that they are no longer ranked, but are instead simply listed, makes my original query moot.  Given the number of good experiences with Zenni, though, it does seem like it needs to be positioned somewhere other than last.

I just received my second order from Zenni yesterday took only 8 days
from order.
I ordered a set of tinted sunglasses (80% gray) in an $8 metal alloy
frame and its very good.
I also ordered a prescription non-tinted set of glasses in a plastic
frame for use for computer vision and most reading. I added +0.75d to
my spherical prescription in both eyes for that purpose and its just
right for that purpose. Still get good enough medium and distance
vision for around the house too with that pair. Even with my extra
cost high astigmatism +3.0d the total cost of that pair with the extra
anti-glare coating was $22 plus shipping. I got that extra tinted
sunglasses pair at the same time to use with my normal contacts for no
extra shipping.

I have had good results with Zenni twice now. May order another tinted
sunglasses pair and a set of reading glasses with titanium frame next.
Its cheaper than what I would have paid at the other online places
since many others charge even more for high prescriptions.
