October meeting: Thursday 2010-10-14

The date of our first technical meeting has arrived: we will meet this
coming Thursday, 2010-10-14, in the S1/Herald&Times building:

The appointment is for 18:15 in front of the main entrance (the glass building).
If you're late, give me a call at 07841538170 and either myself or
other colleagues will come get you at the main entrance.
I believe Aaron volunteered to present the same talk he gave at
YAPC::EU, and I have a "what's new since Perl 5.8.8" talk being
polished.
Is there anybody else who wanted to give a talk (20/30 mins or thereabouts)?
I am also preparing two lightning talks (5 mins or thereabouts), I am
hopeful that some of you will be able to cook up a Perl-related
presentation that will last ~5 minutes, as some of you promised (under
duress, I know) :)
The group is becoming quite big now: I am hopeful we will continue to
meet regularly and have talks ready for all our monthly meetings.
Since no alcoholic drinks are allowed in the venue, the local meeting
of "drinkers.pm" will be after the technical meeting, at a pub to be
decided either during the meeting or on this mailing list (if any good
soul would want to suggest a place that has beer, ale, and _food_).
I will update the website (at last we have http://glasgow.pm.org!) as
soon as I get a round tuit ;)
