Gitlist and Gitolite

I am interested in using Gitlist as a plugin/theme repository for a php project management tool I created. However, I am using Gitolite for access control, but need to allow public read. Can Gitlist connect to Gitolite repositories? If so, how can I enable it? Thanks for your help.

I am not really doing anything special in order to use gitlist and gitolite. I've installed gitolite from the source on centos, and then added the repository to the gitlist configuration.
