Perchance does anyone here have any relatives that go to this school? Do
you hear good/bad/otherwise?

I know of quite a few people who go to school there (though most are
people that I know who are graduating this semester)... they all love
it... friends of mine from Savannah I know usually don't speak too
highly of it, hehe.

But my senior year in hs, it was the most highly reputed art college...
and since I went to hs in a suburb of DC, the fact that it was a school
in Savannah, GA, was a little odd.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. It's highly recommended in the visual effects
industry as a good place to get your degree in computer animation / effects
/ design.

A likely destination for me after I'm released from Tech.

Now, if you had said that from the beginning, I would have said more. :)

I have quite a few friends in the animation/effects/etc field, including
one of my best friends.

He actually went to 7[!] colleges, before he ended up finishing here, at
ACA (atlanta college of art). He looked very seriously into SCaD, but
their computer art/animation/etc curriculm at that point was pretty bad,
he thought (this was '95). So, he went to ACA, and had a great time, and
graduated in '97.

I also know quite a few people who graduated from the Art Institute up
in Buckhead, and they apparently got a much better education than you
would think.

*shrug*

I dunno how much SCaD has changed in the past 5 [ugh, I am old] years,
since most of my friends there are in !computer fields... but eh. It
does have a reputation, kinda like Tech does, and maybe that's worth
more than the education you get.

Ehhh.

-j, whose mom keeps toying with the idea of going back to school to get
a computer graphics degree, haha.

was ranked #1 about 5 years ago. I knew lots of SCAD kids when I lived in
Savannah. They liked it. It rules. I would've gone there myself, but I
decided to come torture myself here and get a degree I could guarantee
would land me a phatty job.

I have a friend who transferred to SCAD from here since he wanted more
graphics/ visualization / etc. computer training compared to what he
was learning here. He seems to like it quite well.

actually, i have been told that ~90% of scad grads receive jobs in their
field of study upon graduation. it is rather expensive though, being
private and all. also, i heard rumors that they are going to become
affiliated with GT, which i had to say back to the person, must be a load
of shit, cause 1) they aren't a state school, and b) tech doesn't care
about artsie shit much.

I would've gone as a photography major. And to make a ton doing that,
well... a lot of it is who you know. Besides, I still plan on doing
something like that after I get out of here. It will just be nice to be
able to do it for enjoyment as opposed to being the way I pay for food
and rent and stuff.
