non-latin characters in commit log after revert
|
| |
When using "git.exe revert --no-edit --no-commit [SHA-1]" on a commit which log message contains non-latin charactes they get double UTF encoded after the "git.exe commit". All primary commit messages are fine, it's just reverted commits which have this issue.

Hello everyone, As git does not have a bug tracker I was unable to determine whether this has been reported/discussed before or not, and though I'm fairly sure it hasn't escaped notice till now, I'm going to post this here as due diligence. I recently deployed git as a versioning system for configuration files... more »

grep: load funcname patterns for -W
|
| |
git-grep avoids loading the funcname patterns unless they are needed. ba8ea74 (grep: add option to show whole function as context, 2011-08-01) forgot to extend this test also to the new funcbody feature. Do so. The catch is that we also have to disable threading when using userdiff, as explained in grep_threads_ok(). So we must be careful to... more »

credential helpers, take two
|
| |
Here's a revised version of the http-auth / credential-helper series. It has the same basic premise as the first series (git contacts external programs to access secure storage, thus enabling secure password caching), but there are a number of tweaks in the implementation. The main departures are: 1. Helpers now _only_ act as storage; they never ask for credentials... more »

svn to git with non-standard layout
|
| |
Hi all, we just want to migrate from subversion to git, but so far all attempts to do that resulted in missing commit information. So we have an svn repo with multiple sub-repos. The trouble is now that those sub-repos have their own trunk/tags (no branches) directories, but actually those projects are very dependent on each other and lots of... more »
